Some more info, for inquiring minds:

• I am what is considered a professional pet sitter as opposed to hobby, and it is my intention to care for animals till I drop.  It is what I do best, and I love it.

• I have a bachelor of science from U of Guelph, and I know an awful lot about animals (especially dogs).  Also got an Information Technology Diploma from Devry because I wanted to try IT.  I've worked in the fields of environmental science, food science and database administration.

• Most pet care givers charge for everything extra, and will only look after smaller, gentler dogs.  First sign of a problem pet and they’re gone.  For my time only rate, I include everything to do with looking after your pets.  I will even clear snow well enough for me to get in and out of your property.  I will scoop whatever poop I can find as I am almost obsessive about a clean yard, nobody wants to step in that stuff.  Over the years I have gained so much knowledge mostly about dogs and their care, and I am happy to share.  Puppies, cancer patients, geriatric, special needs, high maintenance, high energy, challenging behavior…all very unlikely to be a problem for me.

• My schedule is very flexible, usually available last minute, and won’t charge cancellation fees unless you repeatedly abuse my time.  First visit can be as early as 8am, and last visit time is 10pm. 

• I believe strongly in positive reinforcement, high value treats and love for good behavior.

• I can be very firm when confronted with bad behavior.  I have the patience of a saint and that works well in my favour when convincing dogs to behave better. 

• Most pets don’t get enough exercise, and it is very important to see that they do get at least an adequate amount of exercise every day.  This helps them mentally and physically in the long run.  Although I am able to jog about 3km at a time, I’m no marathon runner.  For dogs who aren’t into fetch, but have prey drive, a flirt pole (like a cat dangle toy) is a great way to release some of that explosive energy many dogs have.  It is high impact though, so care needs to be taken to build up to even 10min of this game.  

• To me, animals are not just animals. They are thinking, feeling beings who deserve the utmost in respect and appreciation. 

• Social media isn’t really my thing, I find it is far too time consuming.  I am on Facebook but infrequently do updates, and I sometimes post videos of my dogs on Youtube.  

• I am "old school", I do not rely completely on a computer or fancy website to conduct business.  I'm not quite a luddite however.
