  • Do you board dogs in your home?
Unfortunately not at this time. I know a nice lady named Lori who lives on Taymar Mews who does daycare and boarding in her home. Her number is 647-267-2949. Dogs must be spayed or neutered, and social with other dogs.
  • What is house call grooming?
Busy grooming salons are very scary for most dogs. They cry and shake because of the noises and the strange environment. Groomers, in their haste to get as many dogs groomed as possible, have no time to console your dog. I have all new high-end equipment, geared towards quiet and gentle grooming. Most of my grooming clients are elderly or have health issues. I put a drop cloth down in your laundry room, bring in a table, and a big bag with my gear. I do not have an assistant, so you may have to hold your dog while I do sensitive areas like face or nails. Small dogs can be bathed in a laundry tub, and large dogs in your bathtub. If you don't want your dog bathed in your house, I can take them to Pet Valu and use their dog wash ($15 extra). I am not "Edward Scissorhands", I take my time with your pets. My rates will be a bit cheaper than a salon because I don't have to pay rent for a shop, and I'm using your water and electricity.
  • Do you train dogs?
While I'm very capable in teaching basic obedience, I suggest group lessons. Your dog needs to learn to pay attention to you despite the distractions in the class. I mostly teach manners and do my best to convince dogs to behave better. Reactivity towards other dogs, bicycles, serious hard pulling, "garbage gut", jumping up, nipping, possessiveness and handling avoidance are all issues I have either fixed or curbed to some degree. Every dog is an individual, so what works for one may have little effect on another.
  • What does a vacation package entail?
For healthy adult dogs, I come in at around 7:30 or 8am, 3pm and 9:30pm. You choose if your dog needs a half hour visit or a full hour. I find that 45min visits are perfect. We do a half hour walk, and there's time left over for feeding, brushing, and just hanging out. For puppies, sick, or elderly dogs, I would suggest that I sleep over, and do one or two visits during the day. I would rather not see dogs crated all day, this is not fair to them. If they are destructive or not potty trained, they should be blocked off in an area that is easy to clean, and has nothing for them to destroy (kitchen, laundry room, basement). So long as they have some room to move around, they are usually ok. I would also suggest setting up a camera, and you check on them from time to time. If you have a neighbour who can keep them company for a bit, that helps a lot too. Most dogs do very well staying in their own home.
